Meet “Al Qaeda”

“Al Qaida was neither a terrorist group nor Osama bin Laden’s personal property. . . . The terrorist actions in Turkey (in 2003) were carried out by Turks and the motives were local; not international, unified or joint. These crimes put the Turkish government in a difficult position vis-a-vis the British and the Israelis. But the attacks certainly intended to ‘punish’ Prime Minister Erdogan (Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in office since 2003) for being a ‘toot tepid’ [too (?) tepid] Islamic politician.

he truth is, there is no Islamic army or terrorist group called Al Qaida. And any informed intelligence officer knows this. 

But there is a propaganda campaign to make the public believe in the presence of an identified entity representing the ‘devil’ only in order to drive the ‘TV watcher’ to accept a unified international leadership for a war against terrorism.

The biggest problem in Syria is finding a mechanism to solve the crisis. This can be done only if pressure is exerted on regional powers and regional states now funding and arming the Syrian opposition.

anny Makki is a graduate in International Relations and regular commentator on the crisis in Syria. He spoke with Press TV. This is some of what he said.

Since the very first day of the Syrian conflict, Makki said, “The United States has rejected any political solution. …

By providing non-lethal aid, supporting the Syrian opposition politically, providing stinger missiles and other forms of weapons, the United States has been one of the major protagonists in making the crisis continue.

For the last forty years, the United States of America has wanted to seek the downfall of Assad, both Assad Junior and Assad senior. They want a moderate pro-Western government in Syria that allows for U.S. hegemony, U.S. plans and dominance in the region.

The United States wants the death of Arab nationalism, the death of any powers and forces that fight imperialism in the region; they want a pro-U. S. government such as exists in Jordan or that existed in Egypt under Mubarak.

The United States wants the death of the Arab kind of nationalism, of an Arab ideology that rejects colonialism, rejects imperialism ─ this is exactly what is happening in Syria.

The United States has an atrocious history of human rights within the Middle East and has never been a friend of the Syrian people or the Syrian government.

What obstructs a nonviolent process in resolving the Syrian crisis, Danny Makki concludes, is “the absolute intransigence of Western governments and Western regimes and reactionary Arab regimes. They block any political solution. They block any political settlement that negotiates a peaceful ending to what is happening.

“In this day and age,’ he says, “this is an absolute travesty.”

he UN Human Rights Commissioner today released a United Nations report showing that at least 60,000 people have died in the Syrian conflict.

Commissioner Navi Pillay noted that since the conflict has not subsided in the weeks between November 30 and the turn of 2013, the total dead likely exceeds 60,000.

For the study, researchers analyzed five months of data, cross-referencing seven sources to compile a list of 59,648 individuals reported killed between March 15, 2011, and November 30, 2012. The number of casualties, much higher than we expected, Pillay said, “Is truly shocking.”

It is a Coup d’état, assisted by electronic means: We have these continuing reports that Ben Rhodes in the Obama White House, in the National Security Council has arranged that at a certain point for the CIA and NATO to take over Nile Sat, Arab Sat; kick off the Syrian state television, al-Dunya television and other pro-Syrian television organizations and replace that with completely fake programming, showing the flight of Assad out of the country, the entry of rebel death squad forces into the downtown squares of Damascus and Aleppo and Homs, attacks on the presidential palace and so forth, all fake.  

At various sound stages, either in Saudi Arabia or in Qatar, methods used last year in Libya, ‘Operation Mermaid Dawn’ could now be attempted so that NATO could argue that there is an internal Coup d’etat going on and whatever NATO would do at that point would be invited in, by a group claiming to be the government of Syria.

Media today not only support war, they produce war, says researcher and analyst Saman Mohammadi in an article published last month.

Without delving more deeply into the background of propaganda -made wars, recent history shows that the broadcast of false news is not new: during the past decade, significant steps have been taken in the art of propaganda.

A pop music station named ‘Free Radio of the Thousand Hills’ (RTML) in 1994 gave the signal for genocide in Rwanda with the cry, ‘Kill the cockroaches!’ Saman Mohammadi writes.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in 2001 “used the media to impose an interpretation of the 9/11 attacks and to justify its own aggression against Afghanistan and Iraq. At that time already, it was Ben Rhodes (now President Obama's deputy national security adviser) who had been commissioned by the Bush administration to concoct the Kean/Hamilton Commission report on the attacks.” [The 9/11 Commission or National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States chaired by Thomas Kean and co chaired by Lee H. Hamilton was established by an act of the U.S. Congress and signed into law by former president George W. Bush on November 27, 2002, ‘to prepare a full and complete account of the circumstances surrounding the September 11 attacks’ and to address preparedness for and response to the attacks.]

 

The CIA in 2002 “used five TV channels (Televen, Globovision, ValeTV and CMT),” Mohammadi continued, “to make the public in Venezuela believe that phantom demonstrators had captured the elected president, Hugo Chávez, forcing him to resign. In reality the Venezuelan president had been the victim of a military coup d’etat.”

France24 in 2011”served as information ministry for the Libyan CNT, according to a signed contract.

“During the battle of Tripoli, NATO produced fake studio films then transmitted them via Al-Jazeera and Al-Arabiya, showing phantom images of Libyan rebels on the central square of the capital city, while in reality they were still far away. As a consequence, the inhabitants of Tripoli were persuaded that the war was lost and gave up all resistance.”

All of this, he says, is in direct violation of   principles of International Law (Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights relating to the receiving and imparting of information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers); and the United Nations General Assembly resolution adopted at the end of the Second World War to prevent further wars (Resolutions 110, 381 and 819 forbid to set obstacles to free exchange of information and ideas [as the current cutting off Syrian TV channels] and ‘all propaganda provoking or encouraging threats to peace, breaking peace, and all acts of aggression.’

“By law, war propaganda is a crime against peace, the worst of crimes because it facilitates war crimes and genocide.”

The U.S. government is going against history, world public opinion, and international law in Syria. Bringing down Assad is not moral or legal. Sponsoring terrorists in Syria and unleashing NATO death squads to terrorize the Syrian people and destabilize the Syrian government is a war crime. Syrians are fighting for their survival.
