Long line of abuses: U.S hostilities in Persia as Middle East, Africa, et.al

Destabilize, demonize, depose, destroy
Editing by Carolyn Bennett

Mohammad Mosaddegh
Mohammad Mosaddegh or Mosaddeq, also spelled Masaddiq or  Mossadegh (born June 16, 1882, died March 5, 1967) was an author, administrator, lawyer, prominent parliamentarian who in 1951 became the prime minister of Iran. The democratically elected (1951 to 1953) Prime Minister of Iran's government was overthrown in a coup d’état orchestrated by the British MI6 and the United States CIA.

Mosaddeq’s administration introduced a wide range of progressive social and political reforms such as social security, rent control, and land reforms. His government’s most notable policy was the nationalization of the Iranian oil industry, which had been under British control since 1913 through the Anglo-Persian Oil Company (APOC / AIOC) (later British Petroleum or BP).

On August 19, 1953, Mosaddegh was removed from power in a coup organized and carried out by the United States CIA at the request of Britain’s MI6 which chose Iranian General Fazlollah Zahedi to succeed Mosaddegh.

The coup is commonly referred to as ‘Operation Ajax’, after its CIA cryptonym; but in Iran it is called the Mordad 28, 1332, coup consistent with its date on the Iranian calendar.

Prime Minister Mosaddegh was imprisoned for three years then put under house arrest until his death.

T
he British/U.S. coup reinstalled and supported the increasingly brutal regime of the Shah (Mohammad Reza Pahlavi of the Pahlavi Dynasty) until its collapse in 1979.

Majlis of Iran
(legislature, parliament)
Marking the 60th anniversary of the overthrow, Iran’s lawmakers said in a statement released by the Human Rights Bloc of the Majlis: “Today everyone knows that cutting the hands of oil-thirsty superpowers [off Iran’s oil resources] prompted these so-called advocates of democracy and freedom to topple the Iranian people’s lawful government.”

The lawmakers today characterized the 1953 U.S./Britain coup against the government of then-Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mosadeq as ‘shameful and inhumane’.

Long line of abuse: U.S. foreign relations paradigm in violence

Linking actions 60 years on, the Iranian lawmakers cited the United States and Britain’s current interference in the internal affairs of Egypt, Bahrain, Syria and Afghanistan and their support of the Israeli regime and concluded that “Washington and London are the same old imperialists even if they have changed their approaches.”

F
or the first time, after 60 years, the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has published a document admitting its role in the 1953 coup. The document published on a U.S. National Security Archive website said:

‘As an act of U.S. foreign policy, the military coup that overthrew Mosadeq and his National Front Cabinet was carried out under CIA direction’.

Reza Shah Pahlavi (Persian: Rezā Ŝāh Pahlawi‎, born Rezā Khan on March 15, 1878, died July 26, 1944) was the Shah of the Imperial State of Persia beginning in December 15, 1925. In 1925, Reza Shah ousted Ahmad Shah Qajar, the last Shah of the Qajar dynasty, and founded the Pahlavi dynasty. He was forced to abdicate by the Anglo-Soviet invasion of Iran on September 16, 1941.

Pahlavi dynasty (1925–1979)

Reza Shah Pahlavi, army officer (Persian: Rezā Ŝāh Pahlawi‎, also spelled Riza Shah Pahlevi, original name Reza Khan, parentage: son of Abbas Ali); title: Alahazrat, Homayoun, Shahanshah, Sardar Sepah; birth/death 1878–1944; held office: Shah of the Imperial State of Persia December 15, 1925-September 16, 1941 (after deposing Ahmad Shah Qajar, the last Shah of the Qajar dynasty, and establishing the Pahlavi dynasty); end reign: Ousted 1941 (Soviet Union and Great Britain feared the shah “would cooperate with Nazi Germany to rid himself of their tutelage” so they “occupied Iran and forced Reza Shah into exile.” Mohammad Reza then replaced his father on the throne (September 16, 1941)

Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi; Switzerland-educated; parentage: son of Reza Shah Pahlavi; (pro-Western foreign policy) Shah of Iran; title: Alahazrat, Homayoun, Shahanshah, Ariamehr, Bozorg Arteshtaran, Khodaygan; birth/death 1919 Tehran –1980 Cairo; held office: September 16, 1941- February 11, 1979; end reign: ousted 1979 during the Islamic Revolution.

Mohammad Mosaddegh v
Pahlavi Dynasty, U.S. /UK hegemony

Mosaddeq took his doctor of law degree at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland, returned to Iran in 1914, and was appointed governor-general of Fārs province. He remained in the government following the rise to power of Reza Khan in 1921 and served as minister of finance then briefly minister of foreign affairs. In 1923, Mosaddeq was elected to the Majlis (parliament) but in 1925 when Reza Khan was elected shah (as Reza Shah Pahlavi), Mosaddeq opposed the move and was compelled to retire to private life; but he reentered public service in 1944, following Reza Shah’s forced abdication in 1941. Mosaddeq was again elected to the Majlis and in March 1951 the Majlis passed his oil-nationalization act. Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi appointed him premier.

Mohammad Mosaddegh (Mosaddeq), the democratically elected Prime Minister of Iran from 1951 to 1953, had his government overthrown in a coup d’état orchestrated by secret agencies British MI6 and the United States CIA in August of 1953. Their coup reinstalled and supported the increasingly brutal regime of the Shah (Mohammad Reza Pahlavi) until its collapse in 1979.

Majlis or Mejlis (parliament, legislature, council, assembly)
Iran’s Majlis (Press TV file photo)

The Majlis refers to a legislature and is used in the name of legislative councils or assemblies in some of the states where Islamic culture dominates.

Majlis (or Mejlis; Arabic: مجلس‎, pl. مجالس Majālis) is an Arabic term meaning ‘a place of sitting’, used in the context of ‘council’, to describe various types of special gatherings among common interest groups: administrative, social or religious in countries with linguistic or cultural connections to Islamic countries. It shares its root with the verb meaning ‘to sit’.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Majlis

Atrocious “best and brightest”: U.S. foreign relations

“Idiotic foreign policy of the USA” Timothy Bancroft-Hinchey Saturday at Pravda Ru
Excerpt, editing, brief comment by Carolyn Bennett

S
cathing no-punches-pulled indictment of U.S. leadership attempting to pull the wool over the eyes of the world ─ we can and we must do better.

From a people self-styled world’s “best and brightest”

“Washington appears caught in the grip of an outdated, anachronistic and puerile, vapid, shallow foreign policy-making outfit controlled by intellectually limited political freaks of yesteryear, pandering to the whims of the lobbies that control them, insulting the collective intelligence of humankind and using lies to justify their evil plans,” Timothy Bancroft-Hinchey minces no words.

“… [I]f the United States of America has such excellent schools of higher education,” he writes,  “and if the USA produces such excellent scholars ─ why does the country pursue such a puerile, shallow, anachronistic, outdated and idiotic foreign policy?”
United States
War against the world

Wikipedia note: Barack Hussein Obama, Chicago politician, 44th U.S. President, graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School (president of the Harvard Law Review); taught constitutional law at University of Chicago Law School.

Columbia-Harvard-Chicago Pedigree

Bancroft-Hinchey looks at U.S. foreign relations havoc (demonizing, destabilizing, manufacturing evidence, attacking from air, land and sea) being wreaked on the world (on Somalia, Libya, Yemen, Bahrain, Palestine, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Pakistan, the whole region of the Middle East and South Central Asia not to mention eastern Asia, and the 192-member state United Nations) and asks: Is President Obama “stupid? Does he think his people (Americans) are stupid? Or is he a barefaced liar?”

Latest actions

After constant, failed attempts to (paint) the Government of Syria, specifically “the Government of President Bashar al Assad ─ which has the support of roughly 70 percent of the Syrian people, more than U.S. President Obama and UK Prime Minister Cameron combined ─ as an ‘evil regime’, the USA (under President Obama’s leadership) has again resorted to “lying”: producing “images from April” (making claims “based footage of anti-Assad terrorists lying in beds with shaving foam around their mouths, eyes blinking and alert, holding their heads and writhing around slowly”) and declaring “that the Syrian Government had used Sarin gas.”
Syrian
Pro-Assad rally

Critical omissions

“…What Washington does not say,” Timothy Bancroft-Hinchey writes, “is that ─

…the anti-Assad (30 percent) faction contains increasing numbers of al-Qaeda operatives, as was the case in Iraq and Libya.

…What Washington does not say is that arming the terrorists would escalate the conflict.

Syrians protest
Foreign interference
…What Washington does not say is that NATO is providing support for the terrorists to operate through Turkey.

“How many more (terrorists is the U.S. president) going to fund to murder?” he asks.

Remembering NATO’s cold-blooded murder of President Muammar al Qaddafi’s grandchildren, he asks “How many more Syrian families (is the U.S. president) going to destroy?”

What Change?

“…Who said ‘Change’?” Timothy Bancroft-Hinchey makes his summation. “The man is a traitor to his word, an insult to humankind, and a very bad example of a Nobel Peace Prizewinner. Let this be his (living) political epitaph:

He manages to be even worse than (the 43rd U.S. President, George W) Bush.

How many dead is “enough”? Hollins U Poli.sci. student Lachelle Roddy asks

 Lachelle Roddy
Having had enough she calls for end to U.S. Middle East wars, commitment to care: nonviolence in foreign relations
Re-reporting, editing by
Carolyn Bennett

Motivated young

“I live in a global village in Roanoke, Virginia; and in school (Hollins University), there are many women from the Middle East including Afghanistan and Palestine. They never know whether their families will be alive the next day because of U.S. drones as well as U.S. funding of Israeli war crimes.

Syrians protest
foreigners' interference

“It is very difficult for them to go to school (in the United States) when they have so much hardship back home because of our nation’s foreign policy; especially when, out of fear of being labeled a terrorist, they cannot speak up.”

U.S. Senate hearing considering John Kerry for U.S. Secretary of State

“I stood in the back listening as they continued to reference how big of a threat the Middle East is to America,” Lachelle Roddy said, “and how America needs to be a global leader ─ as if we are not already occupying enough countries. I had had enough when they mentioned economic sanctions on Iran. I could not stay silent any longer, and decided to speak up.

We are killing thousands of people in the Middle East who are no threat to us.

When is it going to be enough?

When are enough people going to be killed?

Motivated by the devastating impact of U.S. foreign policy on the lives of people in the Middle East, the 19-year-old Hollins University student spoke out at the Senate Hearings considering confirmation of President Barack Obama’s nomination for U.S. Secretary of State.

“Global Village” ─ exposure matters

Among its “firsts” are: the first college in Virginia to name a woman president (Matty Cocke, 1901), first chartered women’s college in Virginia, among the first abroad programs in the country (1955, Abroad-Paris), first women’s college in Virginia to offer coed graduate programs (1958), one of the first writers in residence programs in the United States (1959), this 1842 college turned university, sitting on 475 Roanoke, Virginia, acres, is known for its undergraduate and graduate writing programs, which have produced Pulitzer Prize-winning authors Annie Dillard, current Poet Laureate Natasha Trethewey, and Henry S. Taylor.

Hollins University where Lachelle Roddy majors in political science is one of the oldest institutions of higher education for women in the United States. It hosts branches of College Republicans and College Democrats in addition to other politically and culturally focused groups dedicated to more specific causes and seeking to advance diversity, creativity, self-expression, unity, independence and self-confidence. Among them are the Global Interest Association, Black Student Alliance, and OUTloud.

Hollins University
Hollins’ core population includes ─

750 undergraduate students (avg. high school GPA 3.5) from 47 states, 14 countries
20 percent students of color
Two-thirds at graduation have had internships
50 percent have had international learning experience
70 percent avg. within a year of graduation are employed, 27 percent are attending graduate or professional school.

“I’m tired of my friends in the Middle East not knowing if they are going to live to see the next day!” Hollins University political science student Lachelle Roddy said of her motivation to protest at a Vietnam War protester’s confirmation hearing to head what has been an “all-wars-all-the-time  cabinet-level agency in the Obama government.

No limits to violence ─ U.S. torture of foreign-adopted children

Adults starve foster children, wrap  adopted children in carpets, sit on top of them
Excerpting, editing by
Carolyn Bennett

Svetlana Smetanina reports at Pravda.Ru: “Sadistic methods of raising children are absolutely normal in the United States of America”

Countries restrict adoptions to protect their children

Many countries that had “‘supplied’ their children to the adoption market” now cut back on adoptions, Svetlana Smetanina reports.

In 2007, 4,726 children were exported from Guatemala to the United States; in 2009, the number dropped to 754; in 2011, to 32.

Vietnam also banned the ‘export’ of its children.

In 2007, U.S. citizens adopted 828 Vietnamese children; in 2010, 9; in 2011, 0.

In the past five years, Chinese export of children to the United States decreased by 50 percent.

T
wo years ago, a well-known U.S. expert in the field of child psychology and psychiatry, Professor Jean Mercer, sent an open letter to the Russian Ombudsman for Children’s Rights urging a curb on adoptions of Russian orphans by U.S. citizens. Dr. Mercer’s appeal was based on “the fact of too many traumas and deaths among foster children were resulting from the use of Attachment Therapy (AT).”

Dr. Jean Mercer

Psychologist Jean A. Mercer, Ph.D., Professor Emerita of Psychology (teaching retired) at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, is the foremost spokesman for science-based and humane psychotherapy for adopted and foster children.

In the late 1990s, Dr Mercer encountered ‘Complementary and Alternative Medicine’ (‘CAM’) in the form of ‘Attachment (Holding) Therapy’ and ‘Rebirthing.’ After the therapist-caused death of 10-year-old Candace Newmaker in 2000, Mercer began to speak out and publish critiques of ‘alternative’ mental health interventions.

Since her retirement, she has devoted her time to countering the claims of ‘CAM’ psychotherapists that their methods are evidence-based.  Her blog on Psychology Today regularly addressed unvalidated practices.

Dr Mercer has also been involved with issues of inappropriate use of psychological testing in child custody cases and has both testified and published on this topic. She is currently working on a study of historical factors that may help to define ‘CAM’ practices more clearly.  In 2007 she was an expert witness in the child abuse trial of Sylvia Vasquez, a California mother who used Attachment Therapy-related methods with three of her adopted children.

D
r. Mercer has written many articles on the subject of “Attachment Therapy.” Among them are these:

Attachment Therapy Savagery

In the United States, Svetlana Smetanina reports, practitioners of pseudo-science have diagnosed “lack-of-attachment syndrome” and administered “Attachment Therapy” in children adopted from Russia.

“This ‘therapy’ has been recommended in the United States to suppress the will of foster children and make them attach to their foster parents. The followers of such practice already actively support and promote it in Russia,” Svetlana Smetanina wrote.

A
dvocates for children, such as Dr Mercer and her organizations, have described tactics carried out in Attachment Therapy as “wild and downright savage toward foster children”; “dangerous to children’s life and health”; “unbearable suffering inflicted on defenseless and vulnerable children, who live in custody institutions, with foster families.”

Svetlana Smetanina details footage from a video used on television that shows a woman ─

Forcing her adoptive boy from Russia to rinse his mouth with hot pepper sauce [and] forbidding him to spit it out; then

Making the child stand under a cold shower ─ as the boy is heard screaming and begging the woman to stop the tortures.

These abusive acts recommended and supported by pseudo-scientists against children, Smetanina writes, “more than strange methods of ‘education’ (more like tortures), should not be regarded as the fruit of sick imagination of mentally challenged individuals.

“Sadistic methods of raising children in the United States are ‘absolutely normal.

B
ut Advocates for Children in Therapy call the Attachment Therapy methods “the most dangerous form of fraud in the United States.”

‘How on Earth can the suggestion of fear, hunger, pain and humiliation lead to attachment, faith, love? How can [these methods] make a child happy?’

Echoes U.S. humanitarian foreign relations in violence gaining hearts and minds across the world

Supporting ban on
U..S. adoptions of
Russian children
Consequences in foreign relations

Late last year amid protests from officials, media and public, Russia’s Federation Council unanimously voted for a bill that bans U.S. citizens from adopting Russian orphans.

D
ubbed the Dima Yakovlev Law, the bill also imposes a visa ban and asset freeze on U.S. officials who violate the rights of Russian citizens abroad, and bans the U.S. sponsorship of NGOs that operate in Russia as well as the work of U.S. citizens in Russian NGOs. Russia’s Lower House also amended the bill with a provision to apply not only to the United States but to any nation that violates the rights of Russians.

Open Letter to ATTACh by Jean Mercer, PhD., Professor of Psychology, Richard Stockton College, Pomona, New Jersey

Overview to letter:

The Association for Treatment and Training in the Attachment of Children (ATTACh) is a self-described “international coalition of professionals and families dedicated to helping those with attachment difficulties by sharing our knowledge, talents and resources.” (www.attach.org) It also is a leading proponent for Attachment Therapy and as such has been a target of criticism by Advocates for Children in Therapy.

Recently, Professor Jean Mercer, who is also President of ACT’s Board of Professional Advisors, sent an Open Letter to the President of ATTACh outlining her — and ACT’s — concerns about the nature of ATTACh and its activities. We reprint that letter here with some slight editorial revisions.

As of this posting, Professor Mercer reports no receipt of a response from ATTACh’s president or anyone else purporting to speak for ATTACh. http://childrenintherapy.org/essays/letter2attach.html

“Advocates for Children in Therapy is an educational and public advocacy organization dedicated to halting the dangerous cruelty done to children by Attachment Therapy, its associated Therapeutic Parenting practices, and other unvalidated, pseudoscientific interventions for the unrecognized diagnosis called ‘Attachment Disorder.’” http://childrenintherapy.org/index.html

Pained people will one day rise, drive out occupiers ─ RAWA

Afghan Life
under foreign occupation

From “We Will neither Forgive nor Forget!”
Excerpt, minor editing by
Carolyn Bennett

R
evolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan responded this month to the mid-December 2012 Paris summit on Afghanistan
We hope for:
Peace that is based on Afghanistan’s independence from the captivity of the United States
The arrest, prosecution and punishment of traitorous brutes
Accountability for the billions of dollars from each of them and their affiliates
Otherwise, our people will not see a ray of peace, democracy, progress or prosperity.

December 2102
Spectacle: insulting, painful games played with suffering nation

This time, it is the performance of an agonizing drama: the Paris Conference endorsing and supporting the United States which has gathered the enemies ─ from the Northern Alliance, Taliban, Gulbuddin’s party, Al-Qaeda, the United Front, the Afghan High Peace Council, the National Coalition, the Truth and Justice Party, and others ─ to bring peace for our people.

W
hat is most painful is not why these gangs of professional killers with their mouths filled with blood are sitting around a table and talking about peace nor is it the prospect of these treacherous murderers reaching an agreement for creating a joint government to butcher our people with a reinforced comfort they never had before. The actual issue is that the propaganda machine of U.S. occupiers and their allies have all created such hue and cry through their experts, analysts, and pet bondservants such as  Zarif Nazar from Radio Azadi (RFE/RL Dari), Dr. Akbar Wardak, Dr. Ahmad Mahjoor, Wahid Muzhda and others who championed the Paris Conference with such enthusiasm as to say the people of Afghanistan have only this choice: if they want peace, they have to submit themselves to these murderers for these are the undoubted leaders of Afghanistan ….

But they have stupidly misjudged our people to be as senseless as they are traitorous and corrupt.

Peace is only attainable through the prosecution and punishment of these criminals and national traitors. By sacrificing justice, our people will never see peace.…

T
he U.S. ─ wanting the world to know that it is responsible for establishing order in the world and that nothing in the world changes without its will ─ can maybe extend its presence in the region by bringing together our enemies of different species and tightening their leashes in its hands; it can create a regime far more mafia, dependent, corrupt, anti-people and ridiculous than the current one in our homeland. But after the expiration date of its dirty creations ─ as it did with the Shah of Iran, Hosni Mubarak, Pinochet, Suharto, Zia Ul Haq, Noriega and its other lackeys ─ it will take each by the tail and throw them aside like mice.

Consequence

Surely a day will come when the U.S. government will become weak due its fatal financial crisis and the justice-seeking movement of its people and the mass uprisings in different parts of the world or it will face a downfall and the pained people of Afghanistan will drive away the U.S. occupiers in an ultimate uprising ─ just as brave people of Vietnam drove away the occupiers half-dangling from helicopters ─ and will prosecute and punish the fundamentalists and other indigenous elements.

O
ur people have a tough path filled with hindrances in front of them. But history has proved to us time and again that the superpower U.S. and its filthy creations of different religious and non-religious kinds are no more than paper tigers in the face of the will of a fearless nation that rises against them with a revolutionary leadership. This is not just a slogan. If the former Soviet Union suffered a bitter defeat on our soil, so can the United States.

Power of Afghan people

Let there be hundreds of conferences ─ Paris or otherwise ─ our people will not forgive and forget the traitors and criminals of the past three decades.

Our people do not want the U.S. bases or a single government composed of Jehadi, Talib and Gulbuddini murderers, and their Parchami and Khalqi cowards.

Our people want an independent and democratic Afghanistan ─ free from the fetters of fundamentalism.

Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA)

Established in Kabul, Afghanistan, in 1977, the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan is “an independent political/social organization of Afghan women fighting for human rights and for social justice in Afghanistan.

“The founders were a number of Afghan woman intellectuals under the sagacious leadership of Meena who was assassinated in 1987 in Quetta, Pakistan, by Afghan agents of the then KGB in connivance with fundamentalist band of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar.

“RAWA’s objective was to involve an increasing number of Afghan women in social and political activities aimed at acquiring women’s human rights and contributing to the struggle for the establishment in Afghanistan of a government based on democratic and secular values.

“Despite the suffocating political atmosphere, RAWA very soon became involved in widespread activities in different socio-political arenas including education, health and income generation as well as political agitation.” http://www.rawa.org/rawa.html

Paris Conference Concluded! Outlook Afghanistan | December 24, 2012: “For the first time, representatives of various factions involved in Afghan conflict came together to discuss the future of Afghanistan.

“The two-day Paris conference concluded on Friday, December 21, 2012. It was the first conference of its kind since the ouster of Taliban government in Afghanistan. The conference is deemed as an important step forward in involving Taliban in Afghanistan’s political mainstream.

“For the first time, representatives of various factions involved in Afghan conflict came together to discuss the future of Afghanistan. Although the Taliban representatives remained confined to the contents of declaration they had brought with them, their participation in an international conference can be called a political win for the Afghan government, http://www.wahdatnews.com/archives/1159
